Thank you for your email in support of both the Books for BC Babies program and the Infant Development Program.
As you know, we are experiencing some tough economic times due to the global economic downturn, but we are working hard to deal with the associated challenges. We are reviewing all government programs, policies and initiatives, looking at strengths and weaknesses, and new approaches to reaching important goals. When the economy improves, we will be able to revisit funding decisions across the board and we look forward to that happening.
Your comments about the Infant Development Program have been shared with the Honourable Mary Polak, Minister of Children and Family Development. Please be assured that a response from the Ministry will be forthcoming at the earliest opportunity.
Again, thank you for writing. We do appreciate the important work you are doing as a public health nurse and commend you for your commitment to BC families.
